The Bachelor of 艺术s in Theatre provides the opportunity for students to focus on the breadth of theatre studies. The curriculum core requires study in acting, 导演, design and production, 历史, literature and theatre criticism. Students are required to participate in department production activities, 包括戏剧, 音乐剧, 舞蹈和歌剧. No audition is required. Important Notice for 代理, Devised Performance/Physical Theatre and 音乐剧 students: After completing all lower division prerequisites (or the transfer equivalent*) with the required grade minimums ("C" or better in THTR 200; "B-" or better in THTR 160, 140B, 141A/B and 240A/B), all students electing any BFA concentration must audition (jury) for formal admission to the junior level of study.   Please see the appropriate "Areas of Study" concentration-specific pages for requirements, program structure/timing, and important information for transfer students.

The MFA in Directing is also an alternate year program. Only one candidate is selected in this program. The next MFA 导演 candidate will begin study in Fall 2025, with selection beginning in Spring 2025. The MFA in Design and Production accepts a limited number of candidates each year. Selection for these programs is based on production books, portfolios and interviews. Design and Production faculty also attend the URTA National Unified Auditions and Interviews.

 

*If you are a transfer student interested in one of our BFA programs you must complete an audition and be accepted into the program. An AA degree in Theatre does not automatically quality you for the BFA program . There are specific courses and skills required, and your transfer college might not offer those courses and/or skills. 协助.org provides general education, (not degree-specific, requirements).  All prerequisites must be met. For transfer equivalency evaluation, please contact the theatre department office.
